The Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) office has been launched to help digitize Singapore economy. With the launch of DISG, Singapore's private sector in the next three years will witness 10,000 new job opportunities in Technology. There are projections of opportunities in Human Resources and Finance as well. 

DISG seeks to be the go-to place for private organizations for everything digital. By creating a progressive economy built on mutually beneficial relationships between the Govt. and private sector, Singapore is all set to transform its digital capabilities with the latest in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data science,  payments, cloud computing, and product management.

Announcing the launch of DISG at Singapore's Smart Nation Summit, Minister for Communications and Information, Mr. S Iswaran shared “In Singapore, our vision is for a digital economy where every business is digitally empowered, every worker is digitally skilled, and every citizen is digitally connected." He added that to achieve this vision, it is key for Govt. and private sector to work together as trusted partners and co-creators of solutions.

By upskilling existing organizations as well as startups with the latest in technology, talent, and data, the new Govt. office is laying down a strong foundation for the future of global organizations as well as home-grown startups that hold the fort in Singapore. With upgrading the digital infrastructure, there are tremendous opportunities for expanding global reach for several companies.

Kiren Kumar, Chief Digital Industry Officer at DISG in the press release shared, "With the complementary networks, resources and programs of EDB, Enterprise Singapore and IMDA coming together, DISG will seek to achieve our mission to establish Singapore as a global-Asia technology hub with deep capabilities, strong infrastructure and a vibrant ecosystem of local and global enterprises, from which new products, services, business models and partnerships are created for Asia and beyond." 

DISG staff presently constitutes of 45 officials from the Economic Development Board (EDB), Enterprise Singapore and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). They have already started work with setting up the headquarters of Malaysia based Tech company Grab in Singapore. The new Grab HQ in Singapore houses a workforce of nearly 3000 people.

Working together with IMDA and other local educational institutions, DISG is also preparing the future workforce by developing training programs focussed on artificial intelligence, data science, network engineering, software development, user experience design,  product management, and cybersecurity. 

With the Govt. and private sector coming together to create a digitally empowered economy, Singapore's journey is something to look forward to. The upskilling and training programs are sure a positive step in preparing the workforce of tomorrow.
