FUJIFILM Business Innovation Singapore CEO Ching Hong shares leadership approach to fostering an innovative culture
What will help a company propel forward? Mentoring and coaching young leaders, believes Ching Hong, Chief Executive Officer of FUJIFILM Business Innovation Singapore. A strong advocate of developing and growing people, Ching Hong shares his leadership approach in interaction with People Matters to foster an innovative culture within the company.
According to him, the leadership approach must revolve around four key pillars: diversity of ideas, coaching and people development, sustainability, and high-quality leadership.
Diversity of Ideas
Ching Hong believes that innovation thrives in a diverse environment. “To cultivate this, we have established platforms to encourage the exchange of diverse ideas. Our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity, and Belonging (DEIB) ensures that people from different backgrounds, languages, ethnicities, and capabilities are included.”
Stating an example, he shares that FUJIFILM Business Innovation Singapore recently integrated athletes into their internship and permanent roles. “This initiative helps athletes transition into new careers, acquiring skills that extend beyond their athletic shelf life. We also include individuals with physical challenges, and special needs, ensuring a truly diverse environment.”
Coaching and People Development
Developing our people is crucial, says Ching Hong. “We ensure that each leader is involved in mentorship and coaching. It creates a continuous learning and development culture, an essential for fostering innovation.” Our leaders champions of growth, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for real-world application of skills.”
This approach has a ripple effect throughout the organisation. “By nurturing our talent, we are building a robust pipeline of future leaders who are well-equipped to take on new challenges and drive the company forward. It also fosters a culture of trust and collaboration, making employees feel valued and motivated, which boosts engagement and productivity.”
Sustainability
FUJIFILM Business Innovation Singapore’s approach to sustainability extends beyond environmental concerns. “We focus on the sustainability of engagement and corporate social responsibility (CSR). This involves engaging our employees and society in meaningful ways. Our CSR programs are designed to reach out to and positively impact the community, ensuring sustained engagement and contribution,” says Ching Hong.
High-Quality Leadership
We emphasise the development of high-quality leadership, notes Ching Hong. “Our leaders are expected to foster a culture of high engagement and high performance. They are provided with the tools and training necessary to coach and mentor their teams effectively, driving both personal and organisational growth.”
“By focusing on these pillars, FUJIFILM Business Innovation Singapore creates an environment where innovation is an integral part of culture. This approach ensures that we remain agile and responsive to the ever-changing landscape of technology and business.”
